About the festival
This event is dedicated to Kuwana Sosha (Kasuga Shrine), the guardian shrine of the old castle town of Kuwana. It is said to have grown out of a summer purification rite in which clean stones were gathered to purify the festival grounds. Festival carts fitted with gongs and drums come out from each neighborhood and are pulled through town as the gongs and drums are struck furiously.
Tatakidashi, when all the gongs and drums are struck at once
Up to about 40 festival carts pulled through the streets
