About the festival
Chakkirako is a dance performed only by women, held in Misaki, Miura, Kanagawa, during the Little New Year. They dance before Kainan Shrine and the dragon god shrines of the Nakazaki and Hanagure districts, and in the afternoon they visit old houses and shops to bless them. Among the legends handed down is one saying that when Minamoto no Yoritomo visited Misaki, a mother sang while her daughter danced.
