About the festival
Omiya Odori is a bon dance of the villages of Hiruzen, Maniwa City, danced during the Obon season at shrines, temples and roadside halls, moving to a different one each day. It takes its name from Fukuda Shrine, known as Omiya-sama, where the dance is the grandest. To a slow song, dancers form a ring and stamp the floor in geta, with graceful movements that pay careful attention to the whole body.
