About the festival
This event accompanies the annual festival of Tsuchizaki Shinmeisha, the guardian shrine of the Tsuchizaki port district in Akita City. Hikiyama floats offered by each of the old neighborhoods tour the town along with the mikoshi (portable shrine) procession. The floats are rebuilt every year, and during the procession young people and children perform hand dances in the street to festival music.
